Alan Hargrove at XPERIENCE KOUCHIBOUGUAC

Earlier this year, I got to spend a few days with Xperience Kouchibouguac checking out the resort and Kouchibouguac National Park seeing what they both had to offer during the Winter months (Check out my experience here: ). I had a great time just getting away and seeing a part of New Brunswick that I have never seen. So when they asked me to come back this summer it was an immediate yes!

Xperience Kouchibouguac was founded in 1968 just outside Saint Louis de Kent, New Brunswick, along the edge of Kouchibouguac National Park and 40 other local experiences. The resort features several different cabin-style accommodations that have the ammonites of home.

I was fortunate enough to stay in a Luxury Loft Cabin that has recently been renovated but still holds that cabin/glamping feel. The cabin sleeps 6, has a full kitchen, A/C, private BBQ, fire pit, a private screened porch, and my favorite, the skylight lit bedroom.

What I really enjoyed this time around was being able to use the screened-in porch and the BBQ. The BBQ made cooking up dinner a breeze and the screened-in porch allowed me to spend the evenings outside without being eaten by mosquitos.

Parc national Kouchibouguac is literally on the doorsteps of Xperience Kouchibouguac and, in my opinion, has quickly become New Brunswick’s best-hidden gem. The diversity of landscape just within the park is incredible. You go from lush mixed-woods forests to marshes, to dunes, and warm ocean beaches, all within minutes of each other. On top of that, the park and surrounding area intertwine with fascinating Mi’gmaq and Acadian culture and history.

Along with the diversity of landscape, what caught my attention was the variety of activities the park offers for everyone with hiking and biking trails, kayaking, or a relaxing beach day. There is something for everyone. My goal for the trip was to check out as many of the hiking trails as I could like Pines, Migmag Cedar, Bog, and Salt Marsh. But the priority was to hit Plage Kellys for sunset.

This summer has been non-stop busy, and this little getaway was exactly what I needed to relax and reset. I will forever be bragging up Kouchibouguac National Park, one of the province’s best-hidden gems. The diversity of landscape and things to do, plus the combination of having Xperience Kouchibouguac right on the doorstep makes for a perfect summer getaway.
